| Robin Hill: A great place to visit with your school or group |
|
Robin Hill is one of the best visitor attractions on the Isle of Wight to bring your school or group The park’s 88 acres give plenty of room for your party to run free and let off some steam...and with its big mix of features and attractions, it makes a whole day out and excellent value for money compared to smaller attractions who’s “pound per hour” value is very much smaller. It’s no wonder nearly 16,000 school pupils come through our gates each year to enjoy the park. Better value still is our schools & groups joint park ticket, which combines a visit to Robin Hill with one to Blackgang Chine within 7 days. See the prices & booking section for further details . You can also visit the Blackgang Chine Schools & Groups page by clicking here. We can also offer a range of extra activities that are separately chargeable and done by a fully qualified team of leaders. These are great for class or group team building and educational development. They can also be adapted for corporate use if required. Please click here to find out more about our extra educational & team building activities... Robin Hill can easily be used as an excellent educational facility for your school or group during visit. In fact we offer some of the best wildlife and nature interpretation on the Isle of Wight and our countryside site can be used for many nature orientated activities and study projects which school or group leaders can tailor to their own needs. Our Tree House Centre provides a wealth of information about the native plants and animals that can be found here in our woodland and on the Island in general. This is ideal for nature projects and fact-finding work. Food chains and ecosystems are introduced at a basic level and interactive exhibits help enforce the learning aspect. Children are encouraged to go out into the woodland and explore the woodland for themselves. Robin Hill is the best place on the Island, if not in England, to see Red Squirrels and this message is enforced in the Tree House Centre and at Red Squirrel hot spots around the park. Our weekly Red Squirrel safari, on Friday’s at 3.30pm (Thurs in Sept & Oct) is a great opportunity for school groups to get a free guided nature tour of the park that highlights the many reasons, from a geographical and biological viewpoint...and why the Island has such an abundant Red Squirrel population. For a copy of our Red Squirrel fascinating fact sheet click here ![]() Robin Hill Nature NotesWe have also produced a set of Robin Hill nature notes which are great for educational projects or helping to plan a study visit to the park. Please click on one of the images below to view and download these interesting fact sheets. Robin Hill has also very strong links to Roman history, with a real Roman Villa buried in the grounds. This now has its own educational Interpretation barn It has factual references to Roman history, the Villa design & construction and also the archaeological excavation that took place in the 1960’s & 70’s on the site. Also in the barn is a scale archaeological model, an interactive mosaic and a Villa Virtual Viewer (a 3d tour of the villa as it stood, by Sussex University)...plus displays of real artefacts found on the site. The barn makes an excellent educational resource for all school groups and is ideal for project work. ![]() The park’s 3 major rides provide good material for numeracy, science - forces and senses, multi sensory experiences and time. ![]() Much of the park can link to Key Stages 1, 2 and even 3 to help children study within the UK school national curriculum.
